In using the grant, the Livermore Police Department is preparing to launch an array of programs and resources. Notably, these include DUI checkpoints, layered enforcement aimed at curbing distracted driving offenses, and a ploy to strictly enforce laws that safeguard cyclists and pedestrians.

Livermore Police Department further shed light on initiatives earmarked by the grant to keenly focus on primary violations resulting in accidents. These checks are inclusive of monitoring speed limits, adherence to yielding norms, and stop sign/red-light compliance, not to mention ensuring proper lane changes and turning sequences. In this pursuit, the department plans to closely collaborate with neighboring agencies for comprehensive enforcement.

Beyond this, the grant also supports community presentations discussing traffic safety measures, conveying topics on distracted, impaired, and speed driving as well as cyclist and pedestrian security.

Officer training programs also get a leg up from the grant, promoting bankruptcy essential courses, including the Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST), Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE), and Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).
