Long Beach Airport (LGB) is celebrating its centennial year and a consecutive recognition as one of the Best Airports in the United States by Condé Nast Traveler magazine's readers, securing the eighth spot nationwide. Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson praised the airport's achievement, noting the positive impression it leaves on visitors.

Being in the earlier of this year, LGB introduced a revamped Baggage Claim and, in 2022, they unveiled a modernized Ticketing Lobby and Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS). These enhancements, part of a $122 million Phase II – Terminal Area Improvement Program, have created a smoother travel experience. Airport Director Cynthia Guidry declares LGB as the "coolest airport in the country".
Housing airlines including Southwest, Delta, and Hawaiian, the airport now offers service to 24 nonstop destinations nationwide, the most in the airport's near-century history, as mentioned on the press release. This commitment to more direct travel routes has, without doubt, played into the airport's appeal with travellers.
