On Saturday, November 11, the City of Long Beach will honor veterans with its annual Veterans Day Celebration at Houghton Park. The free event offers a platform to appreciate the service and contributions of our nation's heroes.
This year, the celebration will include a welcome ceremony, veterans recognition, and a community resource fair. Entertainment will feature live music from the Satin Dollz and Knyght Ryder, a Kids Zone, food trucks and historical aircraft flyovers by Long Beach City College.
City council member Dr. Joni Ricks-Oddie said the event has grown to honor veterans’ service and sacrifice while providing essential resources and family activities. Amidst growing global tensions, the events' intention is to foster unity and camaraderie.
The Long Beach Veterans Day Celebration highlights the city's commitment to honoring their over 16,000 veterans and their families. This commitment reaffirms the values set by the City's inaugural Veterans Strategic Plan launched in 2022. Throughout the festivities, veterans are recognized as valued community members while their strengths and contributions are celebrated.
