Earlier today, a recidivist sex offender from Maine has been sentenced for failing to register as a sex offender. Frank Boyd, 54, with two prior convictions for sex offenses against minors, was sentenced to two years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release for neglecting to register as a sex offender upon transitioning from Haverhill, Massachusetts to Fryeburg, Maine according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Boyd, convicted in 2001 and 2009, is a classified Level 3 Sex Offender. Under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, Boyd was required updating his registration every time he moved or changed employers. Per the press release, Boyd holds three additional state court convictions (2006, 2008, and 2015) for failing to register.
In March 2021, it came to light that Boyd relocated from his registered Haverhill, Massachusetts address to Fryeburg, Maine, without refreshing his sex offender registration in either region. He was arrested on state charges on July 27, 2022, and remained in custody until his recent sentencing.
