In a startling incident in Marshfield, Massachusetts, David Planchard, 66, allegedly fired shots at neighboring houses from his porch in an inebriated state. The police, on receiving a concerning call from a local resident, arrived at Planchard's residence around 8 pm on Monday, October 23. The caller reported seeing flashing lights and hearing gunshots emanating from 4 Foster Ave, where Planchard lives, according to Boston.com. Meeting Planchard, officers detected a strong alcohol odor.
While the officers were sifting through the property, another neighbor reported gunshot sounds to the police. Officers discovered an empty firearm magazine on the kitchen table and two unsecured Sig Sauer handguns in a kitchen drawer during a protective sweep. The Boston 25 News report posted information about this. The discovery led officers to call in for a K9 unit specializing in firearms detection.
Officers found bullet holes in neighboring homes near Planchard's residence on further inspection. A bullet casing was found by the K9 dog in a bush in Planchard's yard, further strengthening the allegations. As per a Boston.com article, the handgun Planchard allegedly fired was a Sig Sauer P320 45 Cal, unsecured in a kitchen cabinet. Officers also found another unsecured handgun and a properly secured shotgun, rifle, and ammunition in a bedroom closet. The officers seized all items as evidence and for public safety concerns.
According to a Boston.com report, Planchard was released on a $2,540 bail and was set to appear in court the next day.
