A Massachusetts man, identified as Josh Pierre, 21, sought after for a May shooting in Waltham was arrested in Miramar, Florida on September 22. He had been avoiding capture for several months via The Boston Globe.
According to prosecutors, on May 22 just past 1:29 a.m., Pierre, with a few companions, met the victim, Shelson Jules on Lyman Street. Pierre supposedly fired several shots after briefly conversing with Jules, fatally hitting him twice in the back before escaping. The location, near McDevitt Middle School, incurred damage to adjacent homes and vehicles.
Pierre was pinpointed as the suspected shooter in July and charged. Nonetheless, a detailed review of the case indicated that Pierre had remarkably conducted "numerous steps to evade capture." The Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and the U.S. Marshals Task Force ultimately apprehended him in Florida without any complications, as reported by WCVB.
Pierre is now on schedule for arraignment on Friday in Waltham District Court for charges of murder and possessing a firearm. His arrest culminated a complex effort between the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, state police detectives, with also thrown Waltham police, in some interstate cooperation into the mix.
