A fatal stabbing has occurred due to a domestic altercation in a Ledge Street residence in Melrose, sparking an ongoing investigation. A neighbor alerted law enforcement to an in-home disturbance on October 27, around 7:05 pm.
According to a press release by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Melrose Chief of Police Kevin Faller, police arrived to find James Percent, 47, unresponsive due to what appeared to be stab wounds. His death was later confirmed at the hospital.
The authorities' preliminary investigation shows the fatal incident resulted from a domestic dispute between Mr. Percent and a woman. In midst of their argument, a knife was used resulting in Percent's death. The situation escalated when a 21-year-old male resident of the house become involved.
He too was found with stabbing injuries and was subsequently hospitalized alongside the now-deceased Mr. Percent. The actual details and motives are still under review.
