On June 10, George Boozer, 48, pled guilty to 72 criminal charges, inclusive of residential burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime. The charges relate to a series of burglaries across multiple counties, resulting in the loss of over $1 million in cash and jewelry from 43 households within an 18-month span. Boozer, the operation's ringleader, received a 56-year prison sentence yesterday. District Attorney Summer Stephan expressed satisfaction with the enforcement and legal teams for securing justice in this case, according to the San Diego County District Attorney's press release.
Additional charges lie ahead for the remaining members involved in the "minivan crew" operation that plagued multiple communities statewide. Co-defendant Devon Taylor, 43, also faces sentencing on October 10, after confessing guilty in July to 82 charges, including resisting arrest among others, such as residential burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime. Taylor played a crucial role in these serious crimes, which involved breaking into the victims' homes, using pepper spray on their pet dogs, and committing theft.
Meanwhile, Lauren Patrick, 36 and Reshaun Rollins, 20, have admitted to their involvement in the burglaries, pleading guilty to several counts of residential burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime. Patrick will undergo sentencing on October 10, while Rollins's hearing is set for November 9. Preliminary trials or hearings are scheduled for the other defendants in the upcoming months.
Due to the burglaries' extensive nature, an investigative task force was formed to promptly halt the multi-jurisdiction crew's activities. The group implemented diverse measures to hide their identities and the vehicles they used to carry out their crimes. Deputy District Attorneys Lucy Yturralde and Malak Behrouznami are prosecuting the case.
