On Monday, October 30, a 57-year-old hunter vanished while duck hunting at Fourth Lake in the northwestern Chicago suburbs of Lake Villa. Reports from CBS News indicate that the man's boat and belongings were found abandoned near a duck blind; the man himself remains missing.
Area fire departments from Lake Villa and Antioch dispatched dive teams and rescue boats trying to locate the man. With additional support from the Lake County Sonar team and side scan, a total of five boats were deployed to comb the lake's expanse, according to WGNTV.
Nightfall eventually forced the teams to suspend the search until the following day, per an announcement by the Lake Villa Fire Department.
