Yesterday, the late-night calm of New Hampshire was ruptured by a high-speed chase. Nicholas Soukaras, a 42-year-old Nashua resident, is accused of leading police on a significant pursuit with speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour, as reported by NBC Boston.
Soukaras first attracted attention when he was stopped by a state trooper for speeding on the Everett Turnpike in Bedford. He allegedly refused to identify himself and chose to instead flee the scene. His path soon took him off the highway and winding through a residential neighborhood in Manchester, The Union Leader states.
The chase escalated when Soukaras is reported to have driven across a front lawn, causing a minor collision to occur with a patrol car before his vehicle was eventually immobilized by raised curbing, according to officers at the scene.
In a move to locate and apprehend the suspect quickly, the Manchester Police Department utilized a drone. This technological intervention allowed officers on the ground to swiftly track down and capture Soukaras without further incident.
Now, Soukaras is facing multiple charges, including reckless conduct, disobeying an officer, and resisting arrest, and his scheduled arraignment at the Hillsborough Superior Court is set for October 16th, 2023. The New Hampshire State Police urge members of the public with potential leads or information to reach out to them at (603) 223-4381, as per information from NBC Boston.
