Yesterday, the Newark City Council unanimously approved a $986,444 grant from the Board of State and Community Corrections Organized Retail Theft Prevention Program.
As mentioned on the Newark Police Department's official Facebook, the grant will be used for the launching of the Newark Vehicle and Accessory Theft Prevention Program (NVATPP), formulated in response to rising incidences of motor vehicle and accessory theft.
To reduce these thefts, they aim to work closely with the Newark Police Department's NVATPP implementing advanced technology and engaging the community.
Their goals include the improvement of conviction rates, reducing cases of vehicle and accessory thefts, and bolstering community satisfaction via the Catalytic Converter Label Identification initiative.
