Yesterday, Brockton became the backdrop of an expansive law enforcement operation. Local and state agencies such as the Brockton Police, Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Environmental Police, and the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department came together in a joint effort named Operation Fall Cleanup. The operation resulted in 33 arrests and criminal summonses for eight others, as stated in a Massachusetts State Police news post.
Significant outcomes included five narcotics arrests and the detainment of an individual who endangered a Massachusetts State Police helicopter crew. Using strong light, the individual in question attempted to overthrow the flight crew of MSP Air 5.
Another suspect attempted to mislead authorities with false personal details and identification. Post-fingerprinting, his real identity revealed and was discovered there were preexisting warrants for drug trafficking charges against him.
Several units of the Massachusetts State Police like the Traffic Programs Section, Gang Unit, and Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction and Enforcement Team, participated in the operation. The Brockton Police’s Detective Bureau, Patrol Division, and the Traffic Enforcement and Control Unit also contributed. Support from the Brockton Emergency Management Agency was instrumental in the operation's success.
