A recent carjacking occured on the 400 block of Matadero Avenue, Palo Alto, on October 20 as reported by Hoodline. Due to the swift action of the Palo Alto Police Department (PAPD), they arrested the perpetrator and recovered the stolen motorhome yesterday.
The incident began when a man in his sixties, sleeping in his parked vehicle, was alerted by the sound of his motorhome’s engine, per PAPD. He found an intruder in the driver's seat. After unsuccessfully grappling with the intruder, the victim fell from the step of the vehicle, receiving minor injuries. East Palo Alto Police Department located the stolen motorhome in Ravenswood Shopping Center, leading to the suspect's quick apprehension.
The swift resolution of this case, aided by the prompt response of PAPD, led to 27-year-old suspect Omar Alexis Romero Perez getting booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on felony charges of carjacking and elder abuse.
