Salem, Massachusetts resident, Andrew R. Sorrento, 35, recently pleaded guilty to charges of possession and distribution of child pornography, in Boston's U.S. District Court.
In July 2022, authorities identified Sorrento distributing CSAM via social media and text messages. A search of his residence in December 2022 resulted in the confiscation of his cell phone, where 23 images and seven videos depicting CSAM were discovered, some of it involving children below the age of 12.
The possession of child pornography charge can carry a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, at least five years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
The distribution charge, however, includes mandatory minimum sentence of five years and can go up to 20 years in prison, coupled with the same period of supervised release and fine. U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani has scheduled the sentencing for January 10, 2024.
