Residents of Redlands, Mentone, and Yucaipa, in San Bernardino County, are now experiencing improved road conditions due to the recent completion of the Wabash Avenue and Other Roads Project. The project was a joint effort between Measure I Local Streets Program – San Bernardino Valley Subarea funds and the City of Redlands that saw considerable infrastructure enhancements take place across some 32 miles of county roads, as per to San Bernardino County's website.
The project commenced in November of 2022 and saw its conclusion in August of 2023, despite several challenges, one of them to include a work stoppage due to temperature-related asphalt treatment issues. Completed works included the application of various resurfacing treatments like Rubberized Hot Mixed Asphalt, Slurry Seal, Fiber Slurry Seal, Chip Seal, and Leveling Course with Patch. Additionally, the stripes and pavement markings were refreshed to improve road safety.
According to San Bernardino County's website, these improvements align with the Board of Supervisors' mandates, addressing the diverse needs and uplifting the quality of life for its residents. These enhancements ensure that less commonly used roads will not hamper residents' daily lives due to lack of quality anymore.
