San Diego County property owners are receiving their secured property tax bills for 2023-2024 this week, announced Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister. According to the San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector, the tax revenue increase is expected to boost county and city services significantly.

McAllister emphasized the importance of taxpayers promptly settling their bills to fund public health, schools, and other vital services. He stated, "We encourage taxpayers to pay their taxes as early as possible." This year's tax collection projection is an astounding $8.63 billion, a $566 million increase over last year's total. The rise in home prices and new residential construction are the main factors contributing to the surge.

The first installment of property taxes is due by November 1, and must not be delinquent after December 10. Similarly, the second installment must be paid by February 1, 2024, and delinquency begins on April 11, 2024. Ensuring these deadlines are met is critical to avoid penalties and to ensure the provision of public services.

Funds collected via property taxes support various public services in local cities and the county, including schools and libraries. To facilitate efficient payment, the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office accepts transactions via their website, using e-checks for no extra charge.

Over 1,013,632 secured tax bills have been issued, increasing the urgency for community members to meet their tax obligations. McAllister emphasized that taxes "fund essential county and city services" and, as such, should be promptly settled.

For property owners yet to receive their tax bill by October 31, they can obtain the information online or contact the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office toll-free at 877-829-4732.
