The San Diego Humane Society is offering free microchips for pets at their vaccine clinic locations during October.
The microchips are permanent pet identification devices that can greatly aid in a quick reunion if pets go missing due to the increased activity and noise associated with Halloween festivities, according to the San Diego Humane Society.

The San Diego Humane Society has informed that appointments for microchipping and vaccinations can be scheduled up to a week in advance. As they tend to get booked rapidly, pet owners can access their online portal. New slots are added every Tuesday for the next week’s bookings, barring major holidays.
Clinic hours and appointments at five locations, that include the El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, San Diego campuses, and to better facilitate pet owners, are readily available. Pets arriving without appointments are subject to a $15 walk-in fee and must arrive before 4 p.m. during the clinic's operational hours.
Noteworthy for the vaccination and microchipping sessions, pets have to comply with certain regulations. Dogs should be on a leash, and cats need to be safely placed in a carrier. The suggestion is for owners to attach collars and ID tags to their pets as well. In the face of ongoing COVID-19 risks, only credit and debit card payments are being accepted, to ensure everyone’s safety.
Apart from free microchips, the San Diego Humane Society continues offering its regular vaccination and deworming services for cats and dogs. Fees for these services apply. The Society's mission is to provide the highest quality of care and dedication to the well-being in dealing with, of all the pets they serve.
