
Early Tuesday morning, a delivery van was stolen from Third Street, San Rafael. According to a tweet from San Rafael Police Department, the theft occurred just prior to 6:30 AM with the stolen vehicle subsequently seen headed towards China Camp State Park. This observation precipitated an alert to local law enforcement.

Responding quickly, a Marin County Sheriff's Deputy identified the van driving from China Camp State Park on North San Pedro. The deputy attempted to pursue the vehicle too, although it escaped only to be found abandoned on San Pablo Avenue. The thief remained elusive.
Officers began an extensive search, leading to the identification of a possible suspect as part of the investigation, a key step towards resolution. The relieved van owner received their vehicle back promptly. The San Rafael Police Department's successful collaboration with @MarinSheriff was highlighted and applauded in their tweet regarding the incident.
