In Solano County, California, Dennis Vongsa, the 38-year-old who had subjected his 12-year-old victim to years of sexual abuse until last October when, taking matters into her own hands, she sought help from a neighbor. The Solano County District Attorney's Office reports on their Facebook page that the abuse began in 2017 and tragically continued for four years.
Upon receiving the victim's report, the Rio Vista Police Department initiated an investigation in partnership with the Solano County Sheriff's Office. Solano County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Danny Schilling and Solano County District Attorney’s Office Deputy District Attorney Shelly Moore led the case. The interview with the victim revealed evidence that she herself had collected, which eventually led to the arrest and conviction of Vongsa.
In what was once her and her mother's shared residence with Vongsa in Rio Vista, the victim tasted a semblance of Justice. Yesterday, after agreeing to a plea bargain, Vongsa pled guilty to Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child under 14 years old. He was sentenced to 15 life-years in state prison by the Solano County Superior Court.
According to the Solano County District Attorney's Office, the family, the brave victim, and the supportive neighbor have their gratitude.
