A burst of gunfire incident occured early morning in Southbridge, Massachusetts on September 30. As reported by the Southbridge Police Department, at approximately 2:08 am, multiple E911 calls were received, indicating shots fired on Pleasant Street.
An investigation was launched with video surveillance footage reviewed and multiple witnesses interviewed. From these efforts, a suspect vehicle was rapidly identified, seen fleeing soon after the shooting. The vehicle was later located at a convenience store parking lot, along with a male subject, Juan Torres-Valez. Carrying a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun without a license, Torres-Valez was promptly arrested and sent to police headquarters for processing, as stated by the Southbridge Police Department.
Juan Torres-Valez, a 37-year-old native to Webster, MA, has been charged with several crimes including possession of a loaded firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, possession of ammunition without an FID card, to start with. Furthermore, Torres-Valez was held on two active arrest warrants. Held on $25,040 cash bail, he waits for his Dudley District Court arraignment.
