
Springfield, Massachusetts authorities made two arrests and seized a sawed-off shotgun and narcotics during a recent operation, according to an announcement from the Springfield Police Department.
Acting on a tip about 18-year-old Matthew Cleary's possession of a sawed-off shotgun and cocaine, the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) and the Emergency Services Unit (ESU) obtained a search warrant for a Taylor Street apartment.
Led by Sgt. Christopher Hitas and Lt. Matthew Benoit, officers were able to recover the illicit items and apprehend Cleary and Levi Vickstrom, 19, from Bourne, MA. Both now face charges including possession of a sawed-off shotgun and possession with intent to distribute Class A and B drugs.
