On October 25, a man identified as Stephen Cantillo was in a standoff with law enforcement after barricading himself inside a home on Putnam Street, Weymouth, Massachusetts. After hours of negotiation, he was taken into custody and later transported to a hospital for assessment, reported by NBC Boston.
Upon arrival, Weymouth police were to serve Cantillo with outstanding arrest warrants in a sober home where he resided. In response, Cantillo threatened the officers with a rifle and barricaded himself inside, as WHDH detailed, which called for a large-scale police response and residents were strongly advised to avoid the area.
