A state-of-the-art social club and facility focused on pickleball is slated for a winter 2024 opening in Chicago's Lincoln Park area. Named SPF, the club plans to become a year-round recreational center and community hub.

As reported by FOX32 Chicago, SPF will occupy 2121 N. Clybourn Avenue. The facility's first phase includes eight dedicated pickleball courts equipped with instant replay tech, an indoor turf field for a variety of games and events, locker rooms, saunas, showers, and a coffee bar. It also plans to hold activities for kids ages 3-11 under the "Cucumber Club".

In addition to its sporting facilities, SPF aims to collaborate, with well-known local chefs and restaurateurs to provide unique dining experiences. Some of its potential partners include the founders of Honey Butter Fried Chicken, Josh Kulp and Christine Cikowski, Kikwetu Coffee founders, and former Galit chef de cuisine Tom Carlin.

As noted by WGN-TV, SPF's involvement extends beyond traditional facility provision to actively supporting the sport's growth. The club is working with Toss & Spin for lessons and ProXR Pickleball, which is a known paddle producer for the game.

The SPF's planned opening follows the surge of interest in pickleball. This booming popularity has resulted in several new facilities dedicated to the sport. Just in September, The Picklr declared its intent to open three suburban pickleball facilities in November. Chicago also houses a professional team, the Chicago Slice of Major League Pickleball, which won the Challenger League Championship in June.

The introduction of SPF underscores Chicago's dynamic interests and needs. The new club not only provides for active individuals but also fosters a community for those passionate about culinary experiences. In this way, SPF aligns with the diverse and continually evolving ethos of Chicago.

Given the city's rich sporting and culinary traditions, SPF's diverse offerings guarantee a cherished spot in Lincoln Park. The facility's upcoming debut is eagerly anticipated by both pickleball devotees and food aficionados across Chicago. With the city's enthusiasm for pickleball and the sport's continuous expansion, SPF is poise to be at the forefront of Chicago's recreational scene.
