The Chicago Police Department (CPD) issued a community alert about a string of robberies in the Grand Crossing neighborhood throughout October 2023. The victims reported being confronted by an armed offender demanding to hand over their belongings. There was one incident where shots were fired, but luckily, nobody was injured.
In two weeks alone, four instances were reported, all in the same area.
Despite wearing a ski mask, the assailant is described as an African American male, around 5'04" to 5'08" in height.
In response to the thefts, CPD has encouraged citizens to pay close attention to their surroundings and promptly report any suspicious behavior.
People are suggested to keep an eye out for their neighbors and report any irregularities. Additionally, if confronted by a criminal, it is crucial to remember unique physical attributes, calmly negotiate, and approach witnesses for their contact information or call 9-1-1.
