A string of break-ins plaguing the Somerville, Massachusetts neighborhood near the Powder House Rotary, has local residents amped up and officials seeking the public's aid. The person of interest's identity remains a mystery, and law enforcement, as per WHDH, is banking on the public's help to crack the case.
Residents are banding together rapidly to defend the neighborhood. They're bouncing texts off each other, swapping photo evidence, and keeping watch. "I'm hoping, they figure out who it is and catch him," said resident Lily Bienstock on WCVB.
Suspect images circulating were released by Somerville Police. Boston 25 News reports that this individual seems to favor entering homes through unlocked doors between the ungodly hours of midnight to 8:30 a.m. The items taken, however, remain undisclosed.
As a protective measure, the Somerville Police Department is reminding residents, particularly those living on ground floors, to securely lock their doors and windows during nighttime. They're also encouraging locals to quickly report any suspicious activities or individuals seen around.
Resident Shay Urban described seeing and interacting with the man in an interview with WCVB, stating, "I asked him what he was doing. He gave me an excuse that didn't make sense to me. He said he was watching people run by but he was clearly in our backyard."
