Several synagogues in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island received threatening emails on October 15th, 2023. Similar to hate incidents from the previous year, the emails managed to spark fear within the community, according to CBS News.

The Congregation Agudas Achim in Attleboro reported receiving an email warning of impending bomb explosions. The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad was quick to thoroughly search the building and premises, and by 11:30 a.m., confirmed to there be no explosives found, per Boston25 News.

The threat extended to other synagogues in Rhode Island. Attleboro police identified that the emails received by the Jewish centers were sent anonymously and were similar to those received by other religious centers in New England on the preceding days, as reported by WCVB.

In response to the incident, the Evangelical Covenant Church across the street from the Congregation Agudas Achim offered shelter to the evacuated Jewish congregation. The State Police Fusion Center and the State Police Operations Watch Center also remain vigilant to gather intelligence and monitoring potential threats.
