A 14-year-old girl working as an actor at Rhode Island's Seven Cedars Farm haunted hayride suffered critical injuries on Saturday. She was inadvertently dragged under a tractor and caught beneath the vehicle's rear wheels during the event, as reported by WHDH news.
The evening began as a festive affair, with families gathering for the Halloween event at Seven Cedars Farm. The incident occurred when the tractor driver noticed something happening behind him and quickly halted the vehicle, as per Deputy Chief Steven Quattrini of the Smithfield Fire Department.
Participants quickly banded together, showcasing an admirable level of courage and compassion to lift the tractor's trailer off the girl. This allowed emergency responders to reach the victim and rush her to Hasbro Children's Hospital. She is currently being treated for critical injuries, including multiple fractures, according to WBTV news.
In response to the accident, Seven Cedars Farm has discontinued the Haunted Hayride for the season. Counseling services have started being provided to students at Smithfield High School, where the victim attends classes. A representative for the farm expressed their profound sorrow and sent their wishes for the teenager's swift recovery.
While the event had clearance to proceed without actors, Seven Cedars Farm chose to end the hayride for the season.
