A 67-year-old man, identified as Donald Schaefer, was tragically killed earlier today, in a forklift accident at a recycling company in Abington, Massachusetts. The incident occurred during a steel container offloading operation, as confirmed by the Plymouth County District Attorney.

Initial investigations showed Schaefer was on top of steel loads, acting as a counterweight. Unfortunately, around 1:40 p.m., the load shifted. Schaefer fell, and several container bottoms landed on him. His co-workers managed to remove the steel and swiftly alert local authorities, as Boston 25 News reported.
First responders transported Schaefer to South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth. Regrettably, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Currently, the investigation continues, involving the DA's office, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and local and state police.
