The Quincy Police Department this week reported a successful effort in removing two illegal firearms from public circulation. According to their recent Facebook post, they arrested two individuals on separate occasions, seizing two firearms in the process and likely averting potential criminal actions or injuries.

On October 8, Officer Rolfsen and K9 partner Archer, to conduct a traffic stop, stopped a vehicle that ignored a stop sign. They noticed a large volume of marijuana, which led to a detailed search of the car's interior. This search revealed an unlicensed firearm, drug paraphernalia, and illegal ammunition. The suspect now faces charges related to both firearm and drug possession.

Later that night, Officer McKeen observed a black vehicle with noticeable front-end damage and an expired inspection sticker. The driver also failed to signaling to turn. Drawing from a previous Officer and Safety Awareness bulletin, the officer identified the driver as being involved in an altercation with a female, allegedly threatening her with a black handgun. Searching the vehicle revealed another illegal firearm and a high-capacity magazine. Multiple charges have been filed against the driver.
