There will be a temporary suspension of all coastal railway services, including COASTER, this weekend of October 28-29. The area impacted extends from Oceanside Transit Center to Santa Fe Depot, as announced by the North County Transit District (NCTD) in their recent Facebook post. The halt in services allows for essential maintenance and infrastructure enhancement plans to continue. This action is vital for increased safety and enhanced rail connectivity across California.
The North County Transit District's website elucidates that this work window is crucial for carrying out crucial maintenance and infrastructure upgrades on the coastal rail corridor. Unfortunately, no COASTER or Amtrak services will be provided within the defined region during this period, and no substitute bus services can be provided for the usual COASTER station stops. NCTD encourages riders to reconsider their journey and probe into other transport options such as BREEZE bus Route 101 or MTS network. The standard train schedule for the COASTER system will resume from Monday, aligning with the requirements of daily commuters.
According to the NCTD's website, more weekend suspensions are scheduled for 2023 and 2024 for continuous care and enhancement of California's rail infrastructure. It is also worth noting that these plans are subject to alterations based on factors like weather conditions or construction necessities, thereby underlining the need for public vigilance to escape any possible inconvenience.
