Westbound State Route 37 is set for a full closure which could disrupt residents and travelers in the Vallejo and Sonoma County areas. Caltrans, the state's highway maintenance and construction agency, confirmed the closure is slated for Saturday, October 28, between 11 pm. and 6 a.m. the following day. This is part of bridge rehabilitation endeavors and joint seal replacements on the Sonoma Creek Bridge, as stated on the City of Vallejo website.
Work scheduled for this bridge, a critical connector between Vallejo and Sonoma County, is aimed at guaranteeing safety and sustainability. On the night of the closure, Caltrans crews will replace deteriorating joints and rehabilitate the bridge to stave off future issues.
For the safety of workers and motorists, Caltrans has designed a detour route specifically for those traveling westbound on SR-37. Following the city's notification, motorists are advised to divert right onto northbound SR-29 (Sonoma Blvd) in Vallejo, follow NB SR-29 (Broadway) to SR-29/SR-12, turn left, and continue on SR-12/SR-121 (Carneros Hwy/Fremont Dr), make a left on SR-121 (Arnold Dr), and finally re-enter WB SR-37.
Understanding the potential disruption this closure could cause, Caltrans has requested motorists drive with care, slowly, through the Cone Zone. Doing so will ensure efficient and safe completion of the night's work.
