The Winchendon, Massachusetts, schools were shuttered yesterday due to a threat the district received. The closure was aimed at ensuring the safety of staff and students, according to Boston25 News.
Ruthann Goguen, the Interim Superintendent of Winchendon, announced the closure that morning after a threatening post on social media targeted Murdock Middle/High School. In order to investigate the threat, all buildings for the day were closed. "In an abundance of caution, and in collaboration with the Winchendon Police Department, the district cancelled the school at," Goguen stated as quoted by Athol Daily News.
It was confirmed by the Winchendon Police Department that all the students were safe and added that investigation was ongoing.
