A Massachusetts woman found herself in a dangerous situation when she mistook Qabel Najeeb, a 29-year-old Worcester resident, for her Uber driver, which led to Najeeb assaulting her. This incident was reported by WCVB and The Boston Globe.

Police records indicate that the woman, after having her Uber canceled, took a blue Toyota Corolla driven by Najeeb, believing mistakenly that it was her Uber ride. Authorities later identified Najeeb as the driver through witness statements and video footage.

Najeeb, according to the police report, drove the woman to an alley near Storrow Drive where he assaulted her in the back seat of his car. He attempted to obscure the view by placing a T-shirt over the window while committing the alleged crime.

Post-assault, Najeeb drove the woman home and was later apprehended by Boston police. Arraigned in Boston Municipal Court the following day, his bail was set at $10,000, with his driver's license showing a Texas registration despite his car being registered in Massachusetts. His attorney is yet to comment on the case.
