This past weekend, an 11-year-old girl on a bicycle was struck by a hit-and-run driver in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts. The event occurred near Central Elementary School, in a parking lot thought to be used by the driver as a shortcut between Route 18 and Bedford Street as reported by Boston 10 news.
The girl had entered the parking lot through a small path connected to Route 18 and was hit by an SUV, reported to potentially be a 2023-2024 blue Lexus NX according to Boston 25 report. Although she survived without serious injuries, the girl was thrown approximately 60 feet due to the impact as reported by Boston 10.
The driver, a woman dresses in blue scrubs, interacted briefly with the girl before abandoning the scene as stated in WCVB article.
As the police continue to seek additional information, they urge that anyone with information about the incident or the driver to contact the East Bridgewater Police Department at 508-378-7223[2]. The investigation is ongoing, and the community must grapple with the notion that taking shortcuts can sometimes lead to unexpected and unfortunate outcomes.
