On October 24, a deceased young man was discovered in a submerged vehicle in New Hampshire's Androscoggin River.
A driver noticed the vehicle and dialed 911. State troopers, alongside Errol fire and rescue services, responded but due to the water's depth, they couldn't reach the car initially. This information was provided by NECN, who noted the vehicle was just beneath the waterline, east of the road.
New Hampshire Fish and Game Department's dive team and state police Marine Patrol were then tasked with retrieving the vehicle, receiving additional support from the Milan Fire Department. After an extensive search, they found the blue 2000 Ford Mustang about 50 feet from shore, submerged in roughly 12 to 15 feet of water.
Divers found the driver, identified as 21-year-old Michael Marshall of Littleton, New Hampshire, in the car. This car was registered in nearby Upton, Maine. Marshall was the vehicle's sole occupant.
To retrace the path, Marshall was on a route connecting Errol, a small town of around 300 residents, to Upton in Maine. The details surrounding his travel that day remain unclear.
Authorities are calling on anyone with pertinent information to contact Trooper Bryan Griffin at 603-271-1170. They hope compiling pieces of the puzzle will provide insight into this somber incident.
