Yesterday, tragedy unfolded in the usually peaceful town of Rehoboth, Massachusetts, with the discovery of 77-year-old Barbara J. Cruz and 72-year-old Omar Bradley dead from gunshot wounds. The incident is currently under investigation as an apparent murder-suicide.
As reported by CBS News, after a phone call was cut short by shouting, one of Cruz's family members requested a welfare check. Authorities arrived to discover Cruz and Bradley dead at 162 Summer Street. Also present in the home was Cruz's 84-year-old sister, who was unharmed. The preliminary investigation suggests that Bradley fatally shot Cruz before ending his own life.
According to NBC Boston, Cruz was a resident of Tiverton, Rhode Island, while Bradley maintained residences in Providence, Rhode Island, and the Summer Street abode. The ongoing investigation continues as officials work on providing a clear sequence of events.
