Austin has received the honor of being the most festive city in the United States. The ranking is built on data derived from customer requests for holiday lighting, adjusted per metropolitan area population, KXAN reports. Contending in the top five locations were Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Seattle, and San Antonio. Worth noting, four spots in the top ten were snagged by Texas cities as per CultureMap Austin.

“Whether you’re looking to make your home a brightly lit winter wonderland or simply looking to add a few festive touches to your home’s exterior, sprucing up your home’s exterior with lights is an exciting part of getting into the holiday spirit,” expressed Morgan Olsen, Design Expert at Thumbtack. The ranking data grounds itself in requests made since October 2022, and according to Thumbtack, the typical cost of contracting a holiday lighting specialist ranges from $168-$300, with projects like wrapping trees or outlining the front yard potentially costing more.

The list of the most festive cities by Thumbtack sends a timely reminder of the holiday season's proximity and the necessity to book holiday light appointments early. The company highlights the peak demand season as coinciding with the Thanksgiving weekend, falling on the 25th and 26th of this year. Among Austin's notable holiday light displays is the 37th Street Lights, set from December 9 to January 1 as per KXAN.

Thumbtack, worked through data from millions of home projects spanning all 50 states, inclusive of customer requests made from January 2022 to November 2022 for holiday lighting installations and removals. Factoring in the relative frequency of such requests adjusted for population, Austin was hailed as the nation's most festive city according to CultureMap Austin.
