The virtue of giving is on full display in Austin as local dental programs put a shine on their charity work, delivering more than just free smiles to those in dire need of dental care. The ever-benevolent Capital Area Dental Foundation recently made dental dreams come true during their Dental Day as reported by Austin American Statesman. They offered their benevolent services to adults scrapin' by without access to dental care or those unable to pony up co-payments.
Season for Caring, a local charity campaign, partnered with the foundation, which has doled out more than $200,000 worth of care to needy families since 2011. In the spirit of giving back, Dr. Stanley LaCroix, highlighting the special attention given to patients, said, "We give back as dentists because our community supports us," as per Austin American Statesman report.
With Austin chock-full of generous hearts, an Austin non-profit, Manos de Cristo, is making sure dental care doesn't break the bank. According to KVUE, the organization provides a treasure trove of dental services at incredibly reduced rates.
Charm Carlin, a patron of Manos de Cristo's dental center for seven years, boasts, "Dr. Sandoval's going to give me a crown today," expressing gratitude for the affordable care that helps her, and others like her, maintain a confident grin as per KVUE report.
Under Dr. Kendra Sandoval, the dental center operates a tight ship with just five dentists and two hygienists, doing over 50,000 procedures a year. "We are booked out for three months, so we're in the process of hiring another full-time dentist so we can cut down the wait," Sandoval said, as they plan on hiring more hands to ease the discomfort of those in line as per KVUE report.
