Shop til you drop, Austin! As the turkey settles and the Black Friday buzz wears off, the City of Austin Economic Development Department is beckoning shoppers to hit local storefronts for Small Business Saturday on November 25.

The Economic Development Department's Director, Sylnovia Holt-Rabb, implored residents to invest where it counts. "Small Business Saturday is a call to action for our community—to invest in the heart of Austin—the small businesses that define our city’s spirit," she said as per the City of Austin's press release. Small Business Saturday generated an estimated $17.9 billion in 2022.

The 2022 Small Business Economic Impact Study points out a noteworthy figure—recycling $0.68 of every dollar back into local coffers. So when you're picking up a uniquely Austin gift, you're also pitching in to keep community services flush.

Whether it's the eclectics of East Cesar Chavez District or the international flair of North Lamar, Austin's commercial districts are dressed to impress. The Economic Development Department not only spotlights these areas but offers up resources to ensure they reflect Austin’s distinctive soul.
