As Austinites prep for turkey and trimmings, Mother Nature is serving up a side of chill—with a slight sprinkle of uncertainty. KXAN forecasts a breezy Thanksgiving Day dotted with potential light showers, especially east of I-35. Temperatures are expected to carve through the mid-30s in the morning, rising to a modest mid-50s to low 60s by the afternoon.
Cloud cover will slowly clear from west to east today, with some sprinkles possible for areas along and east of I-35. The next chance for some light rain will come late Saturday into early Sunday ahead of our next cold front. Below normal temperatures will continue. #txwx pic.twitter.com/KLehSQZXd3

And while the promise of sun by day's end might break through the clouds, a 20% chance of rain has been set by KXAN from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., though it's anticipated to be as light and sporadic as holiday traffic on a good day. "Plan for a few sprinkles but no need to rearrange any Thanksgiving activities," KXAN advises, brushing off the less-than-perfect weather like an unwelcome cranberry sauce stain.
Black Friday will be cool and mainly cloudy to begin the day. By late morning, the sun is coming, allowing for a beautiful afternoon with highs in the mid 60s says KXAN.
For those plotting weekend escapades, The Chronicle's weather oracle, Adaleigh Rowe, spells out a forecast that's mostly cloudy with feelings. A 30% chance of rain Saturday night could dampen plans slightly, and though it drops back on Sunday, the umbrellas shouldn't stray far.
Sunday continues the trend with a clinging 20% rain chance in the morning, perhaps a subtle nod from the heavens to slow down and savor the leftovers before the grind of a new week descends. In all, as The Chronicle implies through Rowe's forecast, this holiday's weather may not be picture perfect, but it certainly won't stop the heart of Austin from beating warm with gratitude and good cheer.
