Shop till you're trapped in traffic? That might just be the case for those aiming to snatch up Black Friday deals at the Wrentham Outlets this year. In anticipation of the holiday rush, Plainville police are rolling out traffic restrictions quicker than you can say "doorbuster." According to CBS News Boston, streets around the shopping haven will be under lockdown from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the entire Thanksgiving weekend.
Residents living in the affected zones, however, won't have to navigate through a maze to simply reach their homes. They'll be granted a special placard to be prominently displayed to bypass the restrictions Boston 25 News reports. To quickly get their hands on these precious passes, locals can skip to the Plainville Police Station starting November 22, but they must flash a Massachusetts driver's license proving their address lies within the shopping battlefield.
This isn't the outlets' first rodeo with traffic tangles. Last year's Black Friday saw Interstate 495 backed up for miles, leaving many to endlessly circle parking lots rather than racking up savings. The affected streets include Berry Street, Horseshoe Drive, and Wampum Street, among others. A full list can be found by those who dare to venture on the police department's announcement or the local news disclosures.
