Firefighters are heroically taking on a fierce blaze on Broadway in Chelsea, with swarms of emergency vehicles converging on the scene early this Wednesday morning. According to NBC Boston, the fire alarm was raised shortly after 8 a.m., igniting the 300 block with a voracious inferno engulfing a two-story structure housing a local business as heavy smoke billowed from shattered windows.
In a dramatic display that could have been ripped from a Hollywood blockbuster, photos and videos sourced from the scene showcase firefighters aggressively dousing the flames, which have transformed the building into a smoldering tower. Boston 25 News reported, in addition to the spectacle of the battle with the fire, meteorological challenges, as Boston 25 Meteorologist Shiri Spear noted, "sustained winds might be an issue in putting the fire out."
Travelers faced a commute upended as the fire's wrath spilled over onto nearby roads. MassDOT has issued an advisory, cautioning motorists about ramp closures on US-1 NB at the 4th St. Ramp, warning that the fire is affecting traffic conditions in the vicinity—a detail echoed by both NBC Boston and Boston 25 News sources.
