A fire ravaged a one-story wooden house on Mill Street, Westwood, Massachusetts, yesterday evening. The incident, which occurred around 9.30 p.m., was the third blaze of the day that the Westwood firefighting crew was summoned to.
The firefighting team employed aggressive methods to combat the blaze, aiming to vent the house and access the fire. As shown by Boston 25 News, the crew utilized chainsaws to cut through the fire-damaged structure and broke windows to aid in ventilation.
John Deckers, Westwood Fire Chief, spoke to NBC Boston about the difficulties they faced. The crew had to negotiate the collapsed second floor of the residence, which had fallen onto the first floor. Despite such challenging circumstances, the team devotedly pursued their efforts to put out the fire and secure the scene.
The cause of the fire remains to be established.
