On November 2, a 14-year-old male was detained on breaking and entering charges in downtown Boston, according to a Boston Police Department report. The incident occurred around 3:39 a.m. at 449 Washington Street, a business premise in the city's heart.
Video surveillance footage showed a male suspect forcing his way into the store, then proceeding to open cash registers. Despite a thorough area search, the suspect's quick flee allowed him to avoid immediate capture. But the surveillance footage provided a vital clue—his escape vehicle, a city blue bike—part of the city’s bike share program.
This clue led officers to successfully apprehend the suspect at an apartment at 164 Westview Street. The suspect was in custody and the apartment was sealed off pending a search warrant, as stated in the Boston Police Department report.
