Former Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) president of Prairie Elementary School in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Megan Robin, was recently charged over allegations of stealing more than $10,000 from the organization. The alleged misappropriation of funds occurred during the 2022-2023 fiscal year reported by Chicago Tribune.
During her tenure, Robin was in charge of funds raised through assorted fundraising efforts. It is alleged that she manipulated the process by not depositing funds correctly and making unauthorized withdrawals with the organization's debit card for personal expenses according to WGN-TV.
Discrepancies in financial records were uncovered by the executive board members of SD96 PTO back in September, who then contacted the Buffalo Grove Police Department. This incident underscores the importance of stringent financial oversight to prevent potential misuses of funds.
The community's trust has been certainly tested by this alleged betrayal. Legal proceedings continue, with Robin's court appearance scheduled on the 29th as per Chicago Tribune.
