Chaos erupted on Chicago's South Side Sunday night when a Chevy Malibu blindsided a CTA bus, sending three people to the hospital, authorities said. The calamitous encounter occurred just before the clock struck 9:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of East 87th Street, throwing Calumet Heights into the throes of wailing sirens and flashing lights.
The bus, helmed by a 28-year-old man, was westbound when the Chevy, driven by a 41-year-old man, crashed into its left side. The Chevy's driver, battered but stable, was whisked away to the University of Chicago Hospital and found in fair condition amidst the wreckage, according to officials reported by CBS Chicago.
But the harrowing incident didn't end there. A 34-year-old woman, a passenger ensnared within the mangled bus, found herself alongside the bus driver at Trinity Hospital, both in good condition with hopes of swift recovery hanging in the balance of the night, according to abc7Chicago.
