Earlier today, a three-alarm fire engulfed a three-story duplex in Cambridge's East district. CFD EMS Captain Jeremy Walsh notified residents about the incident, enabling quick evacuation, according to the Cambridge Fire Department (CFD).
During the Cambridge fire, fast action by fire companies resulted in establishing water supplies, containing and attacking the fire, and executing residents' search. Their synchronized efforts involved 9 engine companies, 5 ladder companies, 3 squads, and the rescue company. No resident injuries were reported.
The fire displaced 16 people and resulted in one non-life-threatening firefighter injury. About 80 firefighters worked tirelessly at the scene. Cambridge Fire Department extended its gratitude towards assisting agencies, including Cambridge Police Department, Pro EMS, and Massachusetts State Police. They also appreciated mutual aid from neighboring communities like Somerville Fire, as mentioned in their official statement.
The reason for the fire remains under investigation.
