In an effort to build safer spaces, Chicago's 2nd District (Wentworth) has recently experienced multiple burglary incidents, prompting an alert to local businesses by the Chicago Police Department. Offenders forced entry into closed establishments, forcing open doors and windows, and removing property.
Specifically, two incidents were reported on Saturday, November 18, one on the 5400 South block of Wentworth Avenue at 4:26 a.m. and another on the 1450 East block of 57th Street between 12:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Heightened vigilance is urged by the police department for locals, suggesting properties maintain good lighting, immediately fix any broken windows, doors, or locks, and report suspicious behavior. Owners of video surveillance have been asked to aid investigators by providing any recorded footage of any incidents.
