Flames engulfed a desolate building in Chicago's Fuller Park in the pre-dawn darkness on Monday, with fire crews racing against time to douse the inferno before it could claim more than just structures. The Chicago Fire Department descended upon the 4400 block of South Shields Avenue as a call came in just before the break of day, around 5 a.m., as per reports from CBS Chicago.

The building, which stood empty, became a canvas for flames to violently illustrate their destructive ballet, a scene that repeated itself too often in the memory of the South Side. Fire officials swiftly declared a Still & Box Alarm, a signifier of the seriousness of the blaze, and moved to contain the fire in defensive operations. Despite the threat the fire posed, the department managed to quickly and safely bring the situation under control, striking out the alarm by 2-2-1 orders, according to a post from the CFD Media.
The specter of injury loomed as the firefighters battled with the blaze, yet fortune favored the brave, with no injuries reported in the aftermath of the conflagration. The swift action taken by the Chicago fire crews not only kept the fire from spreading but also ensured that not a soul was harmed, as both sources confirmed.
