Chicago is on high alert as a string of armed robberies rattles local businesses in the 8th District, authorities are saying. The Chicago Police Department issued a business alert warning about an uptick in violent thefts across the Chicago Lawn area. The perpetrators, reportedly armed and fearlessly brazen, have been targeting establishments under the cover of darkness and early dawn, making off with undisclosed amounts of property.

In the wee hours of November 25, the unsettling silence of the 6400 block of S. Cicero was shattered by the first incident at approximately 1:50 a.m., followed by another strike at the 4400 block of S. Pulaski on November 26 at a jarring 7:51 a.m. The latest in the crime spree occurred once again, shrouded in the predawn of November 27 on the 6400 block of W. 63rd Street, sending shockwaves through the city at around 3:00 a.m.

Described as one to two African American males, aged 20 to 25, standing between 5'07" and 6'01", and weighing around 150 to 170 lbs, the suspects pose an imminent threat to local commerce and safety. Business owners and employees are urged to maintain vigilance and promptly report any suspicious behavior.

"Always be aware of your surroundings," recommended the CPD, along with a suite of measures for ensuring personal safety and aiding law enforcement efforts. Witnesses should nail down any distinctive features such as scars, limps, or unique dental characteristics, but never attempt to chase down the fleeing criminals—rather, they should prioritize contacting the police. If, by chance, a witness approaches, seeking their contact information is advised before dialing 9-1-1 and, if possible, staying put until the authorities arrive.
